Follow on Google News | Terry Strickland art book asks adults "What do you want to be when you grow up?"Oil painter Terry Strickland is releasing her first art book this fall. The book chronicles a two-year portrait series that asked her models to share their hidden desires and alter egos. The book is available now for pre-order through Kickstarter.
The twenty-five paintings in the series will be included in this large, glossy, coffee-table book with details and behind-the-scenes images of the project. Each portrait has a story to tell and Graham Boettcher, PhD Yale University, curator of American Art at the Birmingham Museum of Art, will be writing the introduction. The book is being published by Matter Deep Publishing, which previously published a picture book by Terry's children, Kyle and Carly Strickland. To raise funds for the printing of the book, Matter Deep Publishing has started a Kickstarter page. The goal, which must be met by September 3rd, 2012, is $7,000. Nearly half of that goal was already met in the first three days of fundraising. The Kickstarter page offers books, calendars, and even original paintings as incentives for a donation. The book, which will retail at $65 USD before shipping, is available as a prize for a $50 donation, shipping included. More information about the project, included images and a video, can be found at the Kickstarter project page: http://www.kickstarter.terrystricklandart.com End
