Aug. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- In one of our earlier posts this week, we discussed the renovation of a 3500 sq foot log cabin in Virginia.  Since we didn't dive into too much detail in the last post, we wanted to share with our viewers what is happening with the property, what they will be able to expect, and  how the process is coming.

A little description on the property.  The Cabin itself is an early 1900's Log Cabin with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.  There are multiple large common areas, two fireplaces and even a swimming pool (more about this later).  The cabin has two floors and an attic with a ton of storage space.  Now that you have a vision in your head lets discuss how the cabin was originally built to explain what is going on now.

The cabin was originally built in the early 1900's by someone who literally cut down pine logs from the field and built the cabin up by hand.  They used real stone as a base, and mortar mixed in between.  What this has led to is a beautiful looking, naturally built log cabin.  Unfortunately, it has also led to much need repairs.

Most of the renovation has been completed to included replacing rotted logs on the exterior of the home, updating windows for better curb appeal and efficiency, and landscaping of the grounds.  Due to lack of management from previous owners, the grounds had completely grown up covering all the hand crafted stone work on the outside of the home.  These structures include multiple stone bridges, which allow access all over the grounds including crossing the creek that flows through the property.  There is also a very large sitting area next to the cabin which includes stone benches and an outdoor stone fireplace as well.

As we mentioned above there is also a swimming pool on the property.  This pools is a little different from most the pools you have been in though.  The pool is made of concrete, but is built in the path of a natural spring.  The spring has a pipe pumping in water on the high side of the pool, and a drain that is draining water from the low side.  It is truly remarkable to see, but best left for swimming on hot days.

The renovation is coming right along without any hiccups and will be announcing the completion dates, and periodic updates for our readers.  We will begin posting photos over the next few days as well.
