The campground had a very old, large tree on site N that was causing problems. It seems that the scouts who use the site were scared to use it. They were worried that the tree, which appeared dead, would come crashing down on them. The campground had had a couple guys volunteer to remove it but they balked at the size and passed on the job. That’s were Kutz came in. Kutz contacted Ahbalufa to see if they needed any help clearing out for the camping season. Stacie Williams, the camp secretary was quick to tell Kutz about the massive tree.
Kennell and one of his workers came out to assess the situation. He met with Doug Scott, the president of SLCS/Camp Ahbalufa. It turned out that the tree was not dead after all. It did have some dead limbs: quite large limbs at that. It looked as if it had been struck by lightening, but since the tree was so strong, it did not kill it completely. Kennell was able to trim off three very large branches and leave a healthy tree behind. He then cut them up into stacks and stacks of firewood for the scouts to collect the following day. His worker was also able to spend some time helping to clear and mow the roadside field out front. Click the following link to see a video of the big branches coming down http://kutzflorida.com/
