It is the only car seat that actually looks like your child could survive a car acident in. It is so sturdy nothing chincy or cheasey about it. It is worth every penny.
By: RECARO Proride I am not one to usually write a review, but my mother told me I should share what happened to me with my baby in this car seat. I bought this car seat for my 17 pound baby to be rear facing as long as I can keep him that way. It is made VERY well in terms of fabric, etc. But, for a rear facing baby, it is very encompassing and claustrophobic; Once installed, you can really see how this seat fits almost like a glove around the baby and all of the sudden I could hear my baby choking from not being able to see around the side, not having any space to move, and having this seat all around him. At first, I thought it was a fluke, but it happened over and over, even forcing me to pull off the road on the freeway twice to assist him while choking. I finally got rid of this seat after learning my lesson and have not had one issue since; not a cough, not a choke, nothing. This seat was just way to trapping for my baby... and this was a very serious situation where he could have choked. I am just letting parents know what happened to me, as if this is happening to your baby, you might realize that you are not alone. The Recaro would be a great FF seat but even to have it RF for a few months would not work. We have a 2007 CR-V and the car's seat is too angled and the Recaro seat has too short of a base to work properly. With numerous tries, pool noodles, using both LATCH and belt system, this car seat still did not fit without a lot of movement. We decided to go with the seat we already have for my other son. It doesn't get a lot of press but The First Years True Fit is easy to install, easy to clean and very well-padded. The NHTSA gave it a great rating as well. We thought that changing her position (while keeping her rear facing) might make her a little more nicer to travel with. We own a 2006 Acura MDX. This seat barely fit in our car. The passenger front seat had to be all the way forward. In order to get her into the seat I had to lay her flat and slide her between the roof and the seat and then lower her down, which is not reasonable for any child let alone one who hates the car. Her feet were pressed up against the back seat and she was positioned at an awkward angle. It was not possible to use the reclining feature. The seat is very well made as as most Recaro products.
