About Sullenberger
Sullenberger gained fame when he successfully landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River off Manhattan, New York City, on January 15, 2009. All of the 155 passengers and crew aboard the aircraft survived. Sullenberger is an international speaker on airline safety and has helped develop new protocols for airline safety. As of September 30, 2009, Sullenberger is also the co-chairman of the EAA's Young Eagles youth introduction-
Sullenberger is the author of Highest Duty, a memoir of his life and of the events surrounding Flight 1549. His second book, Making a Difference: Stories of Vision and Courage from America's Leaders was published in 2012. He was ranked second in Time's "Top 100 Most Influential Heroes and Icons of 2009".
About the Air Show
The 23rd annual Lake in the Sky Air Show at Lake Tahoe Airport in beautiful South Lake Tahoe, California is scheduled for Saturday, August 25, 2012 from 8:00 am -3:30 pm. The Lake in the Sky Air Show has been described as “the best in the west” by one of the Navy’s participants.
This year’s show will include exciting aerobatic performances by several top performers including Bill Cornick, Jon Melby and Spencer Suderman. Additionally, there will be Military fly-by’s, Mooney aircraft fly-by’s, Search And Rescue demonstration’
Several military aircraft displays are anticipated including C-17, F-16, F-18, SH-60, T-1, C-21 and others. Many vintage warbirds, seaplanes, CALSTAR, Nevada Highway Patrol, homebuilt and many other aircraft are also expected to participate.
Gates open to the public on Saturday, August 25th at 8 am with pancake breakfast available until 11 am with opening ceremonies scheduled for 10:15 am and air show from 11 am until 3:30 pm. Young Eagles flights are scheduled for Sunday, August 26th with sign up for the flights on the day of the Air Show, Saturday, August 25th.
Parking is $20 and includes admission for all in the car. Walk-ins are $5 per person. Free transportation will be provided from the South Y transit center to Lake Tahoe Airport. For more information, visit www.lakeintheskyairshow.com
