Aug. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Asbury Park, NJ – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County along with the City of Asbury Park and local event producers, The Passion Group, have teamed up for what is expected to be one of the largest community events of the season. Through many brainstorming sessions, what was originally going to be the Asbury Park International Food and Music Festival was quickly simplified to the Asbury Park Labor Day BBQ.  “Barbeques bring friends and families together all summer long, and that is exactly what we plan to do here”, said Jaclyn Boruch, Marketing Director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Saturday – The day starts with DJ Emcee Rob Bush playing top 40 and country hits, while Matt Wade gets ready for his performance. Best described as a ‘Stevie Wonder meets Elton John performer’, he is sure to open the BBQ with some amazing vocals. Matt Wade is followed by the Boys & Girls Clubs Annual Talent Show. With 15 students participating, we are sure to be inspired and impressed. Shortly following the talent show, Michael Patrick’s Ring of Fire band takes over the main stage. Ring of Fire is a tribute band honoring the musi-cal sounds of the one of the most influential musicians of the 20th Century, The Man in Black, Johnny Cash. Although the headline act hasn’t been announced yet, we bet it’s going to be an amazing night of BBQ, music, family and fun!

Sunday – Saturday will be kicking off at noon; we suggest grabbing some lunch from one of the many local food vendors; each of which will have a summer BBQ creation: Jersey Shore BBQ, Jakes famous Crab Cakes, Carnival Concessions, Ike’s, Tommy’s Good Grillin, G & L Gyro, Harvest Specialty, Pure & Simple Flat Bread, The Spot Latin Grill or Crave Food & Catering. If you’re looking for a lighter snack, you will find local favorites Kona Ice, Russell’s Almonds, Casa Di Dolci, Doc Popcorn and the Cupcake Carnival food truck. Ice cold beverages including beer, wine, soda, water & lemonade will be available throughout the event site. As you’re filling up on BBQ, Saturday’s stage line-up is sure to not disappoint with Aqua Vibe taking the stage in the early afternoon, followed by a Boys & Girls Clubs Fashion Show, the Suburban Hillbillies and The Fuzz. Once again the evening headliner hasn’t been announced, but we anticipate something big based on the mobile stage and light show Asbury Audio is scheduled to erect.  Just above the stage, the night will finish off with an electrifying fireworks show over the boardwalk.

Monday – Monday looks to be our favorite day of the festival, as several weeks of “Camp Bandit” practice will all come together on stage with a high energy dance routine by the students. “Camp Bandit” is currently being held at the Boys & Girls Clubs in Asbury every Tuesday by The Bandits, a professional dance team created by choreographer Everett Brothers and vocalist Theresa Fowler. Other musical acts throughout the day will include Rock/Pop/Country artist Josh Zuckerman and one of the shores best reggae bands, Random Test, we expect to see everyone dancing for the duration of the day.
