Great Expressions Dental Centers To Help Create Smiles During Harlem Week’s Children’s Festival

Aug. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Great Expressions Dental Centers’ Dr. Paul Kim will be leading a group of ten Great Expressions dentists to contribute complimentary dental services during Harlem Week’s 2012 Children’s Festival (www.harlemweek.com) on August 18 from 8:30 a.m.-noon.

Organized through the New York State Dental Foundation, this group has volunteered its time to provide free oral health and cancer screenings to children and adults at the event, August 18-19.  The free screenings will take place under the blue canopies in the schoolyard at PS School 175 on 135th St. between Adam Clayton Powel Jr. and Malcolm X boulevards.  Registration takes place onsite.

Every year, the New York City Harlem Week Children’s Festival offers families two days of cultural enlightenment, healthcare awareness, and the opportunity for many to receive educational scholarships.  This is the second year the New York Dental Foundation and volunteer dentists are offering their services to hundreds of children and their families by providing free oral health and cancer screenings.  

“Last year, New York State Dental Foundation members screened more than 500 kids and family members,” said Dr. Kim.  “Our goal is to help exceed that limit in 2012.  Dental health gives a dentist a snapshot into a patients’ overall health and is more important than people realize.  Great Expressions Dental Centers’ involvement in Harlem Week is just another way our organization demonstrates its commitment to giving back to the community.”

Dr. Kim, who offers dental care out of Great Expressions offices in Suffern, NY, and Maywood, NJ, holds his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and his doctorate from Howard University College of Dentistry.
