The Senators up the ante with their self-produced freshman effort Harsher Than Whiskey/Sweeter Than Wine. The debut album lives in a sound all its own: at times featuring full string and horn ensembles, at others the intimate sound of a traditional string band, while revitalizing American roots music. Recently, four tracks from the album were licensed for play in storefronts nationwide (including all Starbucks Coffee Co locations) beginning this August. Notable tracks include: the Sea and its Floor, Lazarus, the London Bridge, and Harsher than Whiskey.
After a year in the studio and working diligently towards a great live product, the group has recently begun to showcase locally. The campaign kicked off in front of a full house at the Trunk Space for the groups’ Friends & Family Album Release Party. The Senators are next booked to play the Rhythm Room on September 9th with national act ‘Lauren Mann & the Fairly Odd Folk.’
The Senators are: Jesse Teer (vocals, guitar, mandolin), ‘Rooster’ Teer (bass, harmonica), Amber Johnson (keys), Carlos Villegas (banjo, guitars), Joe Bitz (trumpet, guitars), and Jason Yee (drums).
