Author Bill Ellingsen Releases his Baby Grand Series of Novels

Bill Ellingsen, author of BoonieRats, One Lowly Angel, and No Former Brothers, makes an abrupt genre shift from his Vietnam vet biker oriented stories to Motor Sports/Family Saga with the Baby Grand Series of novels.

PRLog - Aug. 14, 2012 - DULUTH, Minn. -- Baby Grand: The Beginning, Baby Grand II: The Conspiracy, and Baby Grand III: The Big Time chronicle a fourteen-year-old boy’s loss of innocence, emergence to manhood, and realization of his destiny upon learning family secrets dating back to the prohibition era when his great-grandfather drove Al Capone’s race car and his great-grandmother fell in love with him at a much too young age.

Story Descriptions:

Baby Grand: The Beginning

Teenage hero Kevin Johnson is dumped off in a remote region of southern Wisconsin with grandparents he barely knows. But they are fantastic, and the family racing legacy troubling his father captivates him. Their busywork project is restoring an antique race car like the one Kevin's look-alike great-grandfather drove in the 1927 Indianapolis 500 for Al Capone: the car that landed him in prison over a fiasco at the Illinois State Fair. As it turns out, redeeming the old racer is the key to mending their broken family. Shrewdness on Kevin's part is needed to pull-off the tryst with his girlfriend. Everything is on track until he is caught in the wrong place at the wrong time with an exotic pianist named Desiree Chantelle.

Baby Grand II: The Conspiracy

Desiree's fresh-out-of-alcohol-rehab mother Mandy needs a job. She has a lead on one, too. It's in Kevin's home town where the man Mandy met at the Baby Grand unveiling lives and has connections in the school system. Her main focus should be taking care of her daughter, but Ken is on her mind.

Kevin is buying a Baby Grand race car, not to be confused with the 1927 Miller dubbed "the Baby Grand" that they worked on all summer. Desiree and both sets of grandparents are colluding to help him launch his racing career. But his biggest concern is whether he's up for it. Doing impressive things on a grassy field with a battered BMW 3 Series is one thing, competing on a racetrack is another. Hopefully he inherited more than his facial features from Great-grandfather Paul "Throttle" Johnson.

Baby Grand III: The Big Time

Kevin's professional football player friend proposes forming a racing team. Whatever Kevin ends up driving, his new love will make it handle. Desiree isn't just a gifted pianist. She is a mathematical genius with a natural grasp of mechanical physics. But right now she has something more important on her mind.

Graduate student Candy Clark has a huge student loan and a part-time job modeling lingerie for an online catalog to show for it. Standing in the way of her master's degree is Professor Gustov and his doubts about her hypotheses. But he offers her a chance, an actual job creating a nationwide marketing campaign for a company on the brink of bankruptcy. Real-life hero Kevin Johnson, not yet famous but moving up fast, is what she needs to apply her ideas and keep the costs down. Enticing a fifteen-year-old boy into this should be easy, providing she can beat the pro football player to the punch.
