Using Behavioral Assessments in the Workplace

While organizational decision makers are concerned about getting the “right” people into their organizations, they are also concerned with promoting the kind of people who will be beneficial to the organization in the long run.

Aug. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- From the organization’s viewpoint, effective management promotions are central to the efficient utilization of its human resources and are likely to affect future strategic decisions. However, unlike employment selection decisions which are often conducted by personnel professionals, promotion decisions are often made by managers in all types of departments and at all levels of management. Behavioral Assessments can serve as powerful tools within an organization.

The ability to interact effectively with people may be the difference between success and failure in our work and personal life. People are hired for their education, knowledge, experience and technical expertise and most often are fired, reassigned or passed over for promotions because of a lack of appropriate interpersonal skills. Behavioral assessments provide a tool for increasing personal awareness and improving individual and group communications. Effective interaction begins with an accurate perception of oneself.

Workplace Behaviors: Behavioral analysis is a process that identifies work preferences and associated behavior and emotions. Unlike motivators, emotions are observable. They are the “HOW” of communicating (voice, words, body language and pace) and are the doorway to effective communication and understanding.

Workplace Motivators: WHY people do what they do affects performance both on and off the job. People can save time and energy by determining the specific area of importance related to their interests, attitudes and values. Workplace Motivators™ focuses on a person’s world view, their valuing of life. It examines the passions that lead to action, helps us understand how a person values (positive) or judges (negative) individual events and relationships as well as the world around them. What causes a person to enjoy life, achieve satisfaction and become passionate about their work effects how they will respond when communicating with others and can be a predictive tool for determining the level of performance that can be expected. This knowledge is also a valuable tool in hiring the “right” person and in managing individual and team goal achievement. Workplace motivators are referred to as the hidden motivators as they usually are not directly observable by others.
