National Forum on Pharmaceutical Pricing Litigation

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 14, 2012 - August 13, 2012 – New York, NY – The American Conference Institute (ACI) is pleased to introduce its National Forum on Pharmaceutical Pricing Litigation, which will provide winning strategies for all aspects and facets of drug pricing litigation, i.e., theories, causes of actions, successful defenses, government negotiations, etc.  The conference, which takes place on October 2-3, 2012, at the Carlton Hotel in New York, NY, offers the opportunity to obtain a competitive advantage by joining the conversation between state and federal prosecutors (including “deputized” outside counsel retained by states), state attorneys general, and expert counsel.
“Despite the fact that the pricing MDL is in the process of winding down, there is still a considerable amount of action right now in the drug pricing litigation arena: big settlements, jury verdicts, and overturned decisions come at the same time as new cases being filed,” said Leigh Leventhal, Director of Legal Programs at ACI.  “The stakes in drug pricing cases are increasing each year, and the old tried and true standard pricing methodology of AWP is waning.  We are thrilled to have confirmed the participation of 3 Assistant US Attorneys and 2 State Medicaid Fraud Division attorneys, who will discuss critical elements of pricing litigation handled by state-appointed private outside counsel, including identifying steps to take at the inception of a case to deal with private plaintiff’s counsel, understanding different states’ statutes for appointing power, and knowing what the federal government must do even when not directly involved in a pricing case.”
