Honours for Qatari luxury hotel The Hotel Schweizerhof Bern

Aug. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Bern, August 2012 –  The general manager of Qatari owned luxury hotel The Hotel Schweizerhof Bern, Michael Thomann, has been named "Hotelier of the Year" by the leading Swiss business magazine Bilanz.

The honour comes just one year after the hotel’s reopening following a two-year refurbishment by the hotel’s owners Katara Hospitality Ltd.

After the reopening in June 2011, the Schweizerhof turned to the challenge of establishing a competitive positioning in the market successfully increasing the hotel’s rankings from 21st to 11th place in the country’s league table of Switzerland’s best city hotels.

"It was not an easy task for general manager Michael Thomann, who together with his young team spared no effort during the last months to breathe new life into a legendary establishment that is rich in tradition," says Bruno H. Schöpfer, Managing Director of Katara Hospitality Switzerland AG.

In 2011 the Hotel Schweizerhof Bern was ranked number 21 in the category of best Swiss city hotels, and just one year later has already risen to position number 11 in the league table.”
