Aug. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- You’ve watched them on stage, heard them on the radio, listened to their songs in television shows and movies, and now you’ll be seeing them on your state-of-the-art smartphone. Veteran rock performers, The Almighty Grind, best known for their introspective, guitar-driven rock music, and fresh from a stint on the 2012 Vans Warped Tour, are now moving aggressively into the mobile media marketplace.

After several weeks of farming numerous music supervisors and video game developers worldwide, the band discovered European-based game developer Dream-Up ( http://www.dream-up.eu/ ), a highly successful company that creates, markets, and sells game apps on the Android and Apple operating systems. A slew of transatlantic emails ensued over the course of a couple of weeks and eventually a deal was struck. As a result, Dream-Up began using versions of the bands songs in their game releases last month, which included ‘Extreme Motocross 2’, ‘Ultimate Motocross’, and ‘3-Wheel Racing.’ As the names imply, these games center around precision high-speed motorcycle racing and pro stunt riding, and appear as FREE downloads on both the Apple and Google marketplace websites. More songs by the band are slated for use later this year. And, previous Dream-up releases boast downloads numbering in the millions.

Reflecting on the their success with Dream-Up, bassist TRayDe (trade) recalls, “We’ve toyed with the idea of getting our songs into video games in the past, and were looking for a game developer that catered more to the action sports community. Our songs have stronger, edgy, upbeat tempos and have been typically featured in motion pictures or TV shows revolving around these themes. We got very lucky to have found Christophe, Thierry, and the rest of the Dream Up team. Everything just fell into place.”

While using rock music in video games isn’t something new, success in this market has typically been reserved to well-established commercial bands with big media company budgets and high end marketing teams hand-feeding them opportunities like this. As drummer Kevin McPherson muses, “More and more you see smaller companies partnering up with other unconventional resources, in this case music groups, to create a symbiotic relationship that can have beneficial effects for both across multiple platforms. Cell phone apps and social websites are just a couple of examples.” When asked why this might be happening, he adds, “I don’t know if it’s the result of a poor economy, or more people just being innovative when it comes to inexpensive marketing. Whatever the case, it seems to be blossoming more and more and we’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of it.”
