Kimberly Mitchem-Rasmussen, Director and Founder of the Political Institute for Women said this about creating the Political Candidate Directory, “I realized that it wasn’t enough for us to simply ask women to run and it wasn’t enough to host our trainings. The real work begins for a woman when she launches her campaign. What happens from that point up to the election is what really matters. Too many women were coming back to us after their trainings and asking for recommendations or referrals to consultants. Initially, we gave them lists of the good consultants we knew but before long those few folks were getting overwhelmed with the number of candidates needing to retain their services. At the same time we were hosting trainings for women wanting to pursue a career in politics. The first question the participants asked at the end of the training was “how do I find clients.” It occurred to me that we should bring the two together, find a way to put women candidates in contact with competent consultants. The requests from candidates and consultants to wanting access to the Political Candidate Directory have been overwhelming and very exciting!”
Candidates can gain free access to the Political Consultant Directory by registering at the Political Institute for Women’s website. Consultants may apply for an annual listing in the Political Consultant Directory at the Political Institute for Women. All consultants will be required to submit references to be verified before being approved for a listing. Access to the directory can be found at Political Institute for Women’s website at
