Aug. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- An open-air architectural museum was constructed on top of Montjuïc Mountain in 1929 in Barcelona. This museum was designed for the mega event “Barcelona International Exhibition” that was held in Barça that same year.  The museum was the inspiration of Josep Puig I Cadafalch.
He wanted to build a place that showcased architecture, culture and style from different locations from all around Spain. In short, it is one unique destination that showcases everything that can only be found in Spain. Thus, a town was built that featured more than 100 building with streets and squares.
No holidays in Barcelona would be complete without visiting this hot tourist destination. At the end of the Barcelona International Exhibition, the museum was supposed to be demolished. However, the museum made such a great impact on the visitors that authorities decided not to demolish it.
The museum aims to complete its 100th anniversary with a bang in 2029. This is probably the only town in Barcelona that is bustling with activities and yet is traffic-free. It provides tourists and locals alike with an opportunity for unhurried cultural tourism. Exhibitions, concerts and cultural projects are regularly held in Poble Espanyol because the institute aims in enlightening individuals. As a result, the museum has been hosting MECAL AIR for the past three years.

About MECAL AIR Barcelona
The aim of MECAL AIR is to screen short films from different genres for movie enthusiasts. This is an annual event; this year it will be held from 8th June to 29th September. The short films will be aired in Bastion Square in Poble Espanyol from 8pm to 12am.
A film or movie is the modern form of storytelling. In ancient times, after a hard day of laboring, our ancestors would gather around a warm fire. They would listen to a fascinating storyteller who would tell them captivating tales. Some stories would be about great inspirational heroes or a tragic romance that would fill the listeners’ eyes with tears.
Today, storytelling is done through movies and films. Watching a movie helps us forget our worries and troubles, it takes us to places that we dream about seeing someday. It is a hobby through which we get to experience somebody else’s life and emotions. Thus, we learn to be more empathic to our surroundings. This event aims to bring people together so that they can enjoy a night together outdoor captivated by another world or story.
