Kick Off Reception of the 2012 West Indian American Labor Day Carnival at Brooklyn Borough Hall

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 11, 2012 - The West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA) in cooperation with Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, Deputy Borough President Sandra Chapman and the Brooklyn Caribbean Delegation will host its West Indian American Labor Day Carnival 2012 Kick Off Reception, Friday, August 24th, 2012 at 6pm located at Brooklyn Borough Hall.  

With this year’s theme “Caribbean History, Culture & Unity”, led by WIADCA’s President Thomas Bailey, the West Indian American Day Carnival Association 2012 Carnival Festival will honor and recognize the historic occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago.   The kick off reception will include a festive evening of entertainment, refreshments and community.

With an impressive line-up of artists and activities for the four days and nights at the Brooklyn Museum Grounds, the celebration culminates with the gigantic Labor Day Carnival Parade when over 40 Masquerade Bands and some 3 million jubilant spectators and supporters from around the world converge on Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn from Schenectady Ave to Grand Army Plaza.
