City Canvas Artists Highlights Culture and Landmarks in Bridgport, CT in Free Public Art Projection

The sixth installment of this twelve week FREE art projection project spotlights Bridgeport's cinematic beauty with, "Destination: Bridgeport" by artists Peter Konsterlie & Sean Corvino which launches on 38 Fairfield Avenue on August 16th at 8:30 pm.
 
Aug. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- The sixth installment of Bridgeport's City Canvases art projection project is set to launch on August 16th at 8:30 pm at 38 Fairfield Avenue with collaborating artists, Peter Konsterlie and Sean Corvino. Corvino and Konsterlie's piece, "Destination: Bridgeport" will be a cinematic postcard of colorful Bridgeport Connecticut. Their City Canvases projection promises to highlight the Beardsley Zoo, the shoreline, parks, the North End, Downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods which will also spotlight the culture and landmarks of the most populous city in Connecticut. Their multimedia show will be both video and film running on multiple screens with different formats of film. The show will screen different films both in format and genre: narrative, experimental, black and white, color and kinetic works of art at the 38 Fairfield parking lot adjacent to the Bridgeport bus terminal.

Peter Konsterlie of Liquid Nitrate Films has over twenty-five years of experience in all areas of film, video, and production design with a long list of credentials such as ABC News, Target and Disney Studios. Konsterlie is also heavily involved in community efforts such as Vietnam Veterans for Peace, Black Rock Food Pantry and WPKN Community Radio. Peter is a graduate of Minneapolis College of Art and Design and an accomplished painter with a long list of exhibits under his belt.
Sean Corvino is a long time self taught videographer having worked in public access in both New Haven and Bridgeport, CT producing a wide range of socially relevant programs, documentaries and environmental films. Recently Corvino has been organizing interactive multi media events called The A/V Xperiment which features multiple videos with new media artists, unique videos, the internet and other forms of projectable media. In addition to his projection skills Sean has also written and performed in many bands, launched  the successful arts and entertainment magazine, HIP Magazine and even created his own line of environmental t shirts.

Konsterlie and Corvino also have plans in the works for creating a competitive film festival where the public can vote on their favorite films.Their Audio Video Experiment Film Festival is an organization dedicated to the development and promotion of Bridgeport Film Culture and will create a platform for filmmakers to share and reach a greater audience for their work. City Canvases Bridgeport is a twelve-week, large-scale, video projection program that will highlight week-long, digital shorts by twelve Connecticut artists/filmmakers. Based on the theme of Change, the short videos will be looped and projected on key buildings in Downtown Bridgeport throughout the summer. The videos may be live-action, animated, or abstract films. This public art program will feature artists from throughout Connecticut, including Dustin DeMilio as well as Holly Danger, ES Barraza, Kelly Bigelow Becerra, Shawn Corvino and Peter Konsterlie, Adger Cowans, Mary Jo Lombardo, Lauri MacLean and Lisa Seidenberg, Joe Malfettone, Lori Petchers and Faith Baum, Ernst Weber, and Yves Wilson. City Canvases is a creative placemaking initiative to further the growth and vitality of Bridgeport’s arts and cultural sectors and the City’s creative economy. Bridgeport is one of four cities in Connecticut to receive a pilot-program Creative Placemaking grant and one of seven cities in Connecticut to be awarded a City Canvases grant by the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, Office of the Arts. Partners in the program are the City of Bridgeport, the Downtown Special Services District (DSSD), the Bridgeport Arts + Cultural Council (BACC), and the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County (CAFC).
