Wings of Kilimanjaro offers an alternative to Olympic paragliding

Aug. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- Kilimanjaro, Tanzania – August 11, 2012 – Wings of Kilimanjaro, a once in a lifetime paragliding event scheduled to take place in February of 2013, has offered paragliders in and around the city of London an opportunity to make up for all the lost time due to the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) airspace security restrictions during the Olympic Games in London (London 2012) this summer.

The CAA restrictions have made it difficult, at best, and impossible at least, for many paragliders to get any air time during a period that, fortunately for London 2012, but unfortunately for paragliders, may well be the only spot of decent weather around London during the summer of 2012.

To add fear to restrictions, recent events in Spain has placed a negative twist on paragliding as the following Huffington Post headline underlines, “Paragliding Terror Suspects' Arrests In Spain Put Paragliding In Spotlight.”  The simple fact that two suspected terrorists took paragliding lessons is probably going to make it even harder for paragliders to obtain permits in London, not just during London 2012, but probably beyond.

“Naturally I think that the authorities are making a mountain out of a mole hill, but hey, [you] may not get a chance to enjoy London 2012 by air, but you are most certainly welcomed to be part of history by joining us as we fly off the roof of Africa to help those in need on the ground,” promised Adrian McRae, the founder of the Wings of Kilimanjaro project.
