Aug. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- Inclusive Health – the North Carolina Health Insurance Risk Pool – is pleased to have helped thousands of North Carolinians find affordable, individual health insurance.   Membership has surpassed 15,000 members, making it one of the fastest growing health insurance risk pools in the nation.

“We are pleased to have helped so many North Carolinians with pre-existing medical conditions secure affordable health insurance coverage,” said Kipling Godwin, a licensed representative of Inclusive Health.  “Yet, there are so many thousands more uninsured and eligible individuals who have not heard about this great program.”

Upcoming enrollment events in Pitt, Beaufort, Washington, Nash and Wilson counties will help to raise public awareness regarding the program while providing assistance in getting coverage to potential applicants. There are currently 10,000 members enrolled in the state program and 5,000 in the federal program.

Godwin will be on hand to assist interested individuals with coverage questions, premium rate and plan comparisons, eligibility requirements, and enrollment in the appropriate plan.

Godwin, who suffers from psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, is more than an insurance agent and representative of Inclusive Health – he is also a member.

“Inclusive Health is more than just another program to me,” Godwin says, “It is really my only option for high quality, affordable health insurance.  I know how difficult it is to hear that you have been declined coverage by a private insurance company.”

WHAT?
Inclusive Health holds enrollment events throughout the state to offer professional one-on-one assistance to interested individuals.  These events are organized by Kipling Godwin, a licensed insurance agent who represents Inclusive Health throughout eastern North Carolina.  He can be reached at (910) 840-6743.

WHY?
Inclusive Health has offered its state high risk pool option since January 2009.  It was created by the North Carolina General Assembly to provide an affordable option for individuals with pre-existing medical conditions who lack access to group coverage or other government programs like Medicare or Medicaid.  The Risk Pool coverage expanded in July 2010 with the introduction of the federal high risk pool known as the Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP).  As the first major initiative under the Affordable Care Act, it targets individuals who have been without health insurance for at least six months.  With rates for both programs established by law, premiums are designed to be lower than traditional insurance for individuals with medical conditions.

“Enrollment events are about helping people determine if Inclusive Health is a viable option for them.  With the different program choices available to our members, the ability for applicants to speak with a licensed professional agent simplifies the process for those who attend,” said Godwin.

Inclusive Health provides affordable, individual health insurance for North Carolinians who buy their own health insurance and have a pre-existing medical condition, are eligible for, enrolled in or exhausting COBRA or are eligible for HCTC benefits.

Individuals interested in attending an enrollment event are encouraged to visit www.inclusivehealth.org for a list of items to bring to enrollment events.  For more information, please contact Godwin at (910) 840-6743 or by email at ih@kiplinggodwin.com.
