At just 29, Prasad earned his first of 10 Michelin stars for his take on fine Indian cuisine. Today, he is considered one of Great Britain’s best-loved chefs whose talents have landed him on the vanguard of his profession and warm charming personality have made him a media darling.
Born in central India, Prasad trained in Madras and then at the ITC Maurya Sheraton in Delhi. Building on his south Indian upbringing and affinity with the ingredients from the region, Prasad introduced coconut based curries and seafood typical of its coastline to the restaurant's British patrons. He also is recognized for his imaginative adaptations of the rich cuisine of the north such as delicately spiced, succulent kebabs and aromatic curries. Among his other innovations is a lamb Biryani served with a pastry lid and flavored with mint, rose water and saffron.
