Statement of Fr. Mark Marangone SX and the Xaverian Missionaries on the Killings at the Sikh Temple

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 10, 2012 - Franklin WI: The Xaverian Missionaries extend our sincerest sympathies and our utmost support to our Sikh brothers and sisters in Oak Creek in the aftermath of the killings at their temple.  They are indeed our neighbors here at Xavier Knoll in Franklin and our friends. We are here for them in whatever capacity in which we may serve.

In this time of tragedy the solidarity of faith communities is of the highest importance. We stand with the Sikhs in their commitment to equality, non-violence and compassion. We pray with them to God who unites us all that this heartbreaking act will only serve to strengthen our collective resolve to end the senseless violence which plagues our society.

Ralph Singh,the director of publications and public relations for the Sikh Gobind Sadan, responded to the mass shooting that has devastated the faith community by stating Sikhs, wherever they go in the world build a "community of peace, an inclusive community to stand as an affirmation of what we now call pluralism." As Xaverians we stand in soldidarity with Sikhs in buidling communities of peace.
