Accessible Bench for Parks & Playgrounds

Aug. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- The Pilot Rock Model B110C Accessible Park Bench incorporates the ABA and ADA suggested design guidelines and dimensions for accessible seating. The full-length grab bar across the back of the bench facilitates access and transfer to or from the bench. Since most outdoor benches are not positioned against a wall, the needed grab bar could not be mounted behind the bench. Therefore, we incorporated the grab bar into the backrest of the bench. So the grab bar goes wherever the bench goes, without any additional installation required.  While designing this bench, the R.J. Thomas Mfg. Co. wrestled with numerous conflicting dimensions between ADA and ABA guidelines. But the resulting design is a bench that fully meets the intent of the various regulators. It has proven to be a very popular outdoor park bench.
