Nursing Home Administrator’s License

(Mount Vernon, NY) When John Schuster set out to obtain his Nursing Home Administrator’s license, he knew that his decision on where to train would make all the difference in the world. He chose The Wartburg and his Preceptor was Paula Ress, Administrator of Wartburg’s Skilled Nursing Facility, Rehabilitation and Adult Day Services.  

As John explained, “The decision was a natural one. I’ve been at The Wartburg for almost ten years, starting as an Admissions Coordinator, then Manager, then as an Administrator in Training. I know Wartburg, I understand and cherish its mission, and feel right at home as I prepare to fulfill my new role as a Nursing Home Administrator”.

Ms. Ress added, “John is a perfect fit for The Wartburg. He did his Department of Health Approved Administrator-In-Training (AIT) here from June 2010 to June 2011. The program is extremely comprehensive, and includes very specific time frames that are required by the Board of Examiners. The duration of time that John spent in each discipline depended on the particular role that the department plays in the nursing home. For example, John devoted two months of training in the Nursing Department, while spending three weeks in Social Services. Each department instructed and guided John through their specific policies, procedures and daily operations. Every aspect was included in the plan, including Finance and Human Resources, just to name a few.”

A resident of Danbury, CT with his wife Denise and son, Ryan, John received both his BA and MPA from Pace University.
