La Pan’s is also donating $1 from all web sales to the Jessie Rees Foundation (www.lapans.com) La Pan’s makes all natural, gourmet sauces including: Foundation BBQ Sauce, Fiery Fusion BBQ Sauce, BBQ Blessings seasoning, and Et Tu Brute Bloody Mary Mix. Jon La Pan, founder of La Pan’s Food Corp, heard of Jessie’s story on the news almost a year ago. After his youngest son was chosen to play for Team NEGU’s travel lacrosse team, Jon learned more about Jessie’s story; her fight, her spirit and eventual loss to the cancer. From the inception of his company, La Pan has always looked for opportunities to give back and support a local charity. Jon shared the concept of “Que’n for a cause” with Bill Rabenaldt, GM of The Meat House, a gourmet butcher with 3 stores in Orange County. Like Jon, Bill was inspired to help make a difference, so they put into action “Que’n For A Cause”. When Chris Martin, manager for The Meat House Mission Viejo store, heard Jessie’s story, he also wanted to get involved and help raise awareness for the foundation. “Jessie was such a brave and courageous little girl. She found a way of bringing joy to children in their darkest hour with her ‘Joy Jars’. She was a bright spot in our world and an inspiration to us all. It brings me great pleasure to support the Jessie Rees Foundation to help keep Jessie’s dream alive,” says La Pan. Together, La Pan’s and The Meat House’s goal is to raise funds for the foundation, as well as, awareness to their cause: to spread joy and courage to children diagnosed with pediatric cancer, and to their families. “It’s about helping kids. Growing up is tough enough, but kids who struggle with battles like cancer or abusive parents have tugged at my heartstrings the most. No child should have these battles! I’ve been looking for a way to help and be involved; “Que’n For A Cure” is our first step on this journey, says La Pan. About La Pan’s Food Corporation Jon La Pan has been a food lover since he can remember. Once he discovered how a dish or cocktail could be completely transformed using the right ingredients, he became obsessed with creating perfect blends which could turn a $5 cut of meat into a $50 steak, or make a killer Bloody Mary. La Pan’s passion for food evolved while creating culinary experiences for friends and family to test his creations. He was amazed at how food brought people together and realized that it is much more than sustenance; it’s an opportunity to create good times, memorable experiences and connect people. Every seasoning, marinade, and mixer that comes out of La Pan’s Food Corp is a labor of love with hours spent exploring various spices and blends, followed by rounds of tastings with family and friends . . . all in the name of making gourmet simple and building the foundation for a great memory. On January 5, 2012 Jessie earned her angel wings and is fully alive and cancer free in heaven now. Jessie had one wish, which was to empower every courageous kid and family to never ever give up (NEGU) by spreading hope, joy and love to them at every stage of their journey. This message of hope, strength and perseverance has made its way around the world, inspiring both young and old to stay strong and reach for their goals. Over the past year, the Jessie Rees Foundation has been able to empower kids fighting cancer in 142 Children’s Hospitals, 175 Ronald McDonald Houses and in over 3,500 homes. They have stuffed and shipped out over 12,000 JoyJars to kids fighting cancer in all 50 states and even children in London, Germany, Canada and South Africa. Unfortunately there is no time to celebrate because cancer does not take a break...kids and families need us NOW! Their Mission: Encourage every courageous kid to “never ever give up” by empowering them with a boost of joy, a message of hope and a team of love at every stage of their fight.
