Aug. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Everyone loves a fiesta, and what better way to celebrate life and recreation on the Spanish Island of Menorca then to learn about it during Fiesta Week, taking place as part of the St Francis Vacation Club program later this month. The Vacation club is a summer camp for school age children offering fun filled age appropriate activities.
The program offers a variety of activities designed to promote the physical, social,
emotional and cognitive development of children age 5-13. The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce/LBI Region DMO launched the Sister Island Cultural Exchange this past spring working with Menorca and Long Beach Island representatives from local school systems, churches, businesses and non profits to grow interest in and out of the Mediterranean.

Both islands are rich maritime history, culture and traditions as well as share the same latitude on the globe. Both islands share a common website portal in www.islandadvisor.com which points out all similarities and navigates both islands.  Lori Pepenella will present local and Spanish travel guides and photos of events taken in Menorca to compare the the two islands. The Southern Ocean County Chamber is delighted to speak to children about this unique cultural exchange and looks forward to more community and business out reach to help both islands tourism economies. The partnership has already generated positive media attention internationally and would like to see the exchange grow. For adults interested in learning more about the program the Long Beach Island Branch of the Ocean County Library  in Surf City, will be hosting a December 5 presentation featuring holiday fiestas with spokespeople from the island of Menorca beginning at 10am.
