Atlanta can look forward to two such events in the very near future. The first, “The Adventures of Poetry Man Starring Eddie Oliver”, is a live music and word event held at Mark SQuared Studios on August 17th at 9, sure to please beatniks and partygoers alike. Called a “modern day Gil Scott Heron”, Eddie Oliver’s poetry is street and his written endeavors are nothing less than heroic (aptly earning him the title “Poetry Man”). As the studio’s house host and poet laureate, he keeps live music events and the like lively while maintaining an aura of respect and dignity for each artist he hosts. This Words UNBoxed event will also welcome several other prominent and up-and-coming poets as well as a live band and solo musicians.
The live music doesn’t end there. Mark Squared Studios proudly presents Music UNBoxed “The Amazing Cutzoo Hittin’ Em Hard” on August 24 at 9. In this intimate venue, audiences will enjoy the musical storytelling of Sylvester “CutZoo” Ogletree (Mark Squared’s house band leader) as he, the band, and a ton of musical guests join forces to blend action, fantasy, fiction and reality in a night of dazzling music and entertainment. Special guests include Unknown Lyric, Q, and Nikki Wade. Full of mythos and madness, this show is a night you won’t want to miss.
Both events feature local talent and expatriates as they join forces to save the world (or at least to inspire audiences to do so). More than a self righteous jam or a haggard benefit, these two consecutive evenings allow friends and fans time to get together in an intimate venue to be entertained, to think, and ultimately to interact. The two headliners, lovingly referred to as “like brothers”, work with each other to make both nights comprehensive, inclusive, and entirely fun. Working with Mark SQuared to provide out of the box, unbridled talent, the two are definite crowd pleasers.
“The Adventures of Poetry Man” and “The Amazing Cutzoo Hittin’ Em Hard” are not just events of their own. Attending one or both is sure to inspire, enlighten, and enliven. For more details on these performances, please check out the event website http://marksquaredatl.eventbrite.com/
