The new US trend abandons exhaustion and starving to reach the dream weight. With an improved body consciousness, relaxed spirit and health-conscious eating, extra pounds will be lost for good.

Phases of changing personal diet habits

The Slim Yoga program is a purifying and fulfilling change in personal eating and exercising habits. Of course, this transformation does not happen overnight. Body and behaviour need a certain period of time to adjust and acclimate to the scientific nutritional concept. In general, this process takes about 30 days, and consists of three stages.

Stage 1: Gradual change
The first stage is characterised by observation, analysis and realistic goals. Slim Yoga starters have to become aware of their personal eating habits and recognise mistakes. The program is based on three main meals a day, with a break of approximately three to four hours in between each. A rough plan recommends whole wheat products for breakfast, a large meal for lunch and protein-rich food without carbohydrates in the evening.

Stage 3: Purifying detoxification
The last five days of the transition period involve detoxification. But it is not necessary to be deprived of everything. Four so-called purifying rules help starters during this stage:
1. Completely unwanted: meat, fish, coffee, energy-drinks.
2. Avoid: sugar and white flour products.
3. Important: no fast food! It is healthier and more fun to cook meals.
4. Alcohol and smoking are common vices and must be off during the detoxification phase.
After the initial 30 day stage, the positive effects on body and health are obvious. Now it is necessary to prevent falling back into old habits, but to continue the Slim Yoga program, with about one or two days of detoxification a month.

Yoga program – Fit and relaxed

Along with the diet, the program consists of special yoga exercises two times a day, each 15 minutes long. These techniques can be learned and practised easily at home. The level of difficulty can be chosen and increased individually, as desired. Detailed guidelines for the different exercises can be found in several Slim Yoga advice books. The combination of diet and yoga programs not only stimulates fat-burning and strengthens musculature, but also reduces the level of the stress hormone cortisol, which often causes ravenous appetite attacks. Furthermore, the amount of calories which are burned during phases of rest increases - another supporting factor while losing weight.
