This was disclosed by Principal Secretary to the Department of Commerce and Industry M.N. Vidyashankar while he was addressing members of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) here on Tuesday.
The announcement came as a relief to the industries in Electronics City, that had voiced their opposition to the civic body’s resolution.
Relations with Taiwan
Mr. Vidyashankar also spoke about the State’s relations with Taiwan. About 300 Taiwanese companies would join hands with firms in Karnataka, he said. Speaking about the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), the organisation that helped boost technological developments in Taiwan, the Principal Secretary stressed on the need to emulate examples set by it.
According to a proposal put forth by the Prime Minister’s scientific adviser C.N.R. Rao, about 250 acres had been granted in Mokshagundam in Chickballapur to set up a small-scale organisation which will be the equivalent to ITRI in India, Mr. Vidyashankar said.
