The Spotted Whale Consignment Sale has created an event where consignors receive up to 75% of the selling price of their new or gently-used items. Shoppers receive steep discounts on name brand clothing, toys and baby gear. The Spotted Whale Consignment Sale was created by Michelle Phares and Stephanie Ulibarri, two friends who are mothers and school teachers here on the Central Coast.
Everyone wins at consignment events like The Spotted Whale Consignment Sale. In addition to consignors making money and shoppers saving money, the community also wins. At each sale, The Spotted Whale Consignment Sale will work with community outreach programs by sending leftover donations from the sale directly into the hands of those who need it. The Spotted Whale Consignment Sale is currently working with Life Line Pregnancy Center in Grover Beach.
Stephanie and Michelle first discovered consignment sales when researching a way to clean out their closets of the clothing each of their daughters had outgrown, but hardly had the chance to wear. When Stephanie visited a consignment sale in the Central Valley last spring, she knew she had stumbled upon an event the Central Coast could not live without. “Michelle and I knew that we couldn’t be the only moms in our area who had closets full of children’s clothes that no longer fit our children, but were in excellent shape. We knew we could start an event in our town that would allow other families to stock their closets with clothing and gear at a fraction of the price of retail.”
This September 7th - 9th will be the first Spotted Whale Consignment Sale event. Held at the Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo, those who attend can expect to find over 5,000 sq. ft. of new and gently-used clothing and gear for maternity, baby, and child.
