In honor of the club’s sixtieth anniversary, Tallahassee Toastmasters held a special celebratory meeting at Westminster Oaks, Tallahassee, Florida. Over 30 people, including some of the club’s charter members attended this meeting. To prepare for the anniversary celebration, the club reached out to former club members, other local Toastmasters clubs, and members of the community.
The keynote speaker for the evening was Dr. Robert Greenberg who, in 1952 thought it would be beneficial to the Tallahassee community at large to establish a Toastmasters club. As the clubs first President, Dr. Greenberg provided a historical account of how the club was formed. The Tallahassee Toastmasters club was the first club chartered in Tallahassee and the second club chartered within the State of Florida. Today, there are approximately twenty clubs in the Tallahassee area.
