New author Morrie Richfield pens first novel MR. BREEZE on hope and mankind's fate

Aug. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Philadelphia, PA  - -  For 41 of his 55 years, Morrie Richfield has dreamed of writing and publishing books. He has finally fulfilled his ambitions with the publication of MR. BREEZE, a provocative and fast-paced novel that is both a gripping page-turner and a philosophical exploration of man’s origins and existence.

“MR. BREEZE is a book about hope,” maintains Richfield. “It asks, what if everything we’ve been taught turned out to be a lie? What would we do? How would we all be judged if our maker was to suddenly appear? It asks us all to look inside ourselves and ask those questions.”

Richfield, who is president of a communications equipment company in Pennsylvania, was going through a particularly rough period in his life and “I did not see a lot of good things happening in the world,” he says. “I wanted to write something that might inspire others to look for something good in the world.” One day, he says, “I just started typing, and 10 months later MR. BREEZE was done. I write as it comes out of my head. No notes. I start with ‘what if’ and go from there.”

Richfield admits that he has almost no formal education. “I consider myself a storyteller more than a writer,” he says. “When I was younger, my friends used to say, ‘What’s the story, Morrie?’”

MR. BREEZE (the title is inspired by a song by the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd) follows the increasingly amazing experiences of freelance photojournalist Michael Ryan as he hears of stories about a man named Zack, who can seemingly perform inhuman feats that could be called miraculous. Ryan eventually meets Zack and becomes, at Zack’s insistence, Zack’s messenger. Along the way, a dog named Rover, who also possesses otherworldly powers, joins Zack and Ryan in their adventures, which include a remarkable visit to the Centers for Disease Control, in Atlanta, in search of a cure for AIDS.

The secret of who Zack is and why he has chosen Ryan to tell his story to the world forms the surprising and moving climax to the book.

And there is a MR. BREEZE sequel in the works, Richfield notes. The working title is REVELATION:  THE RETURN OF MR. BREEZE. “The second book is about how we take that message (from the first book) and what we do with it.”

In the meantime, Richfield hopes that readers of MR. BREEZE “find the storytelling compelling. I also would like them to be entertained and to want to tell others about it. If they come away wanting to be a better human being, that would be a huge plus.”
