Aug. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- CHESHIRE’s Alexander Paper Supplies are celebrating their 18th year in business with the launch of a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee themed painting competition aimed
at would-be-artists and artists of all ages.

Alexander Paper’s Managing Director Sandy Cowen wants those who enter the contest to paint or draw the scene that they believe best sums up the unique spirit of this year’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

“We came up with the idea of a competition because we wanted to celebrate our 18th anniversary with our valued customers,” explained Mr Cowen, speaking from the company’s Dagfields Craft Centre HQ at Walgherton, near Nantwich.

“And of course as a supplier of art and crafts materials, nothing could be more appropriate for us than an arts competition especially as artists and schools from across the UK purchase their art materials from us.

“We want those who enter the competition to be as creative as possible,” added Mr Cowen. “I’m sure we’ll get painted portraits of Her Majesty and numerous images of palaces, parades and of course the Queen’s beloved corgis. However, the winning work needs to sum up the Queen’s 60 wonderful years on the throne.

“And as we will be displaying all the entries on our website, we anticipate a great many clicks from art lovers everywhere.

“The great thing about our Jubilee competition is that all the major events of this very special year seem to have come and gone, yet the whole of 2012 is a Jubilee year and our competition provides an opportunity for everybody to still get involved.”

Entries to the competition, which must be submitted by September 30th 2012 by post or personal visit, will be displayed on the Alexander Paper Supplies’ website. A panel of judges will choose winners in the three age groups; under 11s (or Primary School age), 12 - 17 years (Secondary School age) and over 18s. The winners will be announced on the Alexander Paper Supplies website on October 15th.

Winners will be presented with Alexander Paper Supplies vouchers to the value of £250 which they can spend as and when they want.

Alexander Paper’s web master, Alexander Cowen said: “Entrants can create their pictures using pens, pencils, paints or crayons – in fact whichever suits them best. But we can only accept pictures up to an A3 size which equates to 297 mm by 420 mm.

“On arrival, we will scan art works so that they can be displayed in a special gallery on our website www.alexanderpapersupplies.co.uk. Entries can be posted in to us or dropped off at our Dagfields Craft Centre HQ. But I am afraid entries cannot be returned other than by a personal visit to Our Dagfields base.

“And remember, all entries must be accompanied by the name, address and age of the artist as well as a contact telephone number.”
