Mendoza, Argentina –– Belatrix Software Factory, a leading South America Outsourcing Software Development firm recently held an Engineering CASTING CALL for promising Senior Student Engineers. Much like actors invited to “read” for a new film role, the Belatrix program is designed to identify “star” engineers-in-
training, the engineers most likely to excel in producing tomorrow’s newest software products. Working with several Mendoza-based universities, Belatrix selected 20 students currently enrolled in Information Systems programs. Students who were invited to spend the day onsite at Belatrix’s Mendoza offices were treated to a day long program designed to test engineering knowledge and team building skills, and share first hand perspective of what it’s like to be a Belatrix software engineer. The day also included special lunch with Belatrix’s managers who provided additional insight into the kinds of innovative work Belatrix is doing with its international clients. Casting Call students were also given a short introduction on Agile Methodologies, presented by Belatrix Program Manager & Scrum Master, Jose Gramaglia. The concepts of agile methodologies where later applied in games where students practiced playing and using the concepts of agile. Though a mix of fun and information, the day also gave Belatrix a chance to measure each student’s potential to be a new addition to the Belatrix team. The idea behind the Belatrix Casting Call program is to select the best students and compensate all the invited students by giving them concepts of agile methodologies and insights of the way we work.
”Belatrix evaluates each student’s aptitude for being inventive. But it’s more than that. The engineer must also be someone who thrives in a team environment,”
said Federico Robbio, one of Belatrix Software’s founders and CFO. “Collaboration is a very critical element of day-to-day life at Belatrix. We work in teams, and usually those teams are joint teams, including clients. The Casting Call was a great success. We see great potential in several of the students!”
Nine of the 20 students exhibiting the greatest enthusiasm, strong technical skills and overall potential were invited to attend a follow on .NET training session, and one already has joined Belatrix as an intern. Belatrix Casting Call occurs twice a years, giving select students an opportunity to join Belatrix as Interns, launching their global software development careers with the company.
