Jaguar Naples Reports Jaguar Land Rover hiring 1,100 new workers to build XF Sportbrake

Aug. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- With the British auto industry all but left for dead when we were still in short pants and both Jaguar and Land Rover mired in irrelevance for most of the past two decades, the notion that these guys might someday make a successful go of it has always seemed akin to world peace – a nice idea but unlikely to ever happen. So kudos to the management at Tata for doing what neither the former Ford overlords nor the British themselves could.

The Dow Jones Newswires report says JLR will be hiring the new workers to build the XF Sportbrake (pictured) later this year at its Castle Bromwich assembly plant. The company has already added some 1,000 manufacturing jobs at another English plant to support a 19-percent sales increase through the first half of the year. JLR told Dow Jones that a third of its total workforce, some 8,000 people, have been hired in the past two years.
