Hill Street Garden with Tree
For art lovers there are paintings with which people connect. Women and men who love flowers and gardening will connect with this new series of paintings. Flavia began painting 18 years ago and has mastered her technique and is using it to share with everyone the joy of flowers and nature. Flavia sets up her canvas in front of the flowers and paints the underpainting then goes into her studio to add the color. The artist uses oil paint.
Flavia begins with a black canvas that represents negative space for her to build upon. She adds the shapes of the flowers and then adds dimension by shading. She then adds color. The technique she uses has been in development since 2002 when she did a series of paintings on tarpaper using acrylic paint and under her original name.
Flavia is available for exhibits, talk shows, magazine articles, and enjoys talking about her technique and why she chooses the subject matter that she does. She is often seen out in her neighborhood painting the flowers planted by the Mt. Adam’s Garden Club. Flavia joined the garden club and became a champion of marigolds.
