Executive Director, Jeff Minton said, "We'll be joined by dozens of like-minded organizations, individuals and nonprofits to learn, to share and to develop a new way of building community! I think for a lot of us in the social service field, we've come to realize that being a revolving hand out to those that meet a certain criteria is not beneficial, redemptive or even productive."
Guest speaker for the Hope Summit will be Leroy Barber of (FCS Urban Ministries, Mission Year, Toxic Charity) fame. Toxic Charity is the New York Times runaway best seller by Bob Lupton that brought a new way of thinking to the forefront of how America does Charity. Also included in the Summit is West Virginia Singer/Songwriter, Karen Spurlock.
Mr. Barber has dedicated more than 20 years to eradicating poverty, confronting homelessness, restoring local neighborhoods, healing racism and living what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called “the beloved community.”
