PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 7, 2012 - (Ashburn, Virginia) The newly formed chapter of Psi Rho Omega, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., announced today that it will be hosting a "Cash Mob" event to support local Minority Owned Businesses in Leesburg, and the surrounding Dulles area on August 18, 2012.

This event will follow on the heels of the sorority's big summer fundraiser being held this Saturday, August 11, 2012, "Jeans, Bling & Pink Things" which will be hosted at the "Hooked" Restaurant & Lounge in Sterling, Virginia.  The event starts at 9PM, and admission to the event is $40 at the door. Proceeds will go to support the sorority's local programs and activities for the fall 2012 quarter.

You can check out the chapter's public Facebook page and Twitter feeds for more details. @psirhoomega or https://www.facebook.com/PsiRhoOmegaAKA

The "Cash MOB" event, on August 18th, is a first of its kind, and the chapter wishes to encourage all of their family, friends, and Loudoun County neighbors to come out and support two local minority-owned businesses. They are: A Taste of Africa (art store Dulles Mall) and Blue Mountain Café (Jamaican restaurant, downtown Leesburg). Attendees are asked to commit to spending at least $10 at the Taste of Africa store (from hours 11-1pm) and at least $15 at the restaurant (from hours 2-6pm). Attendees should wear green to symbolize “cash”. Ideally, attendees should come out in large numbers, at one time.

Chapter President Monica Hutcherson said, "This is our way of contributing to the local economy here in Loudoun. Minority businesses have been particularly hard hit by the recession and we want to do our part to help these businesses thrive and grow."

Please see the attached flyer for more information and details. Any questions or media inquiries should be sent to PR Chairman Sophia A. Nelson, Esquire or event Chairman Tracy Epps at the email provided.
