One company that took these changes on board is Internet Marketing Scotland. We caught up with Jeff Goodwin to ask his thoughts on the latest changes.
“With the latest updates, panda and penguin, we realised that now more than ever was the time to freshen things up. Our website was caught in the past and we decided to try new things. We decided to build on a popular platform called Wordpress as we know that Wordpress has great code out of the box.”
With search engine rankings dropping for a lot of businesses due to the latest algorithm changes, we asked if having a well-built site was enough to keep high rankings on Google.
“It certainly helps” said Jeff, “Having a well-developed website that offers good user experience is important to any business. Although things like social media and inbound links are still important, having high rankings mean nothing if your website visitors are met by a poor website that offers no real value. A website that is low on quality content or one that just looks bad in general.”
With traditional advertising such as yellow pages on the decline, it’s clear having a well-built website that has quality content and looks good is the way forward for any business trying to compete online.
