HELP LONDON GIRL GET HER SKATES ON!
A London performance artist is asking the city to get behind her to help achieve her dreams.
Jessie Rose comes from Southwark where she grew up until she was 20 – attending schools in Camberwell and further education at Lewisham College, before moving to Hackney for the past six years. She is one half of a partnership behind Bella Kinetica – who are embarking on a new production that will combine circus disciplines with traditional theatrical devices.
Their current show, which is performed entirely on roller-skates and in the air, has been developed between Jessie and her business partner Lisa Truscott who comes from Cornwall.
The two met at a circus skills training school in Bristol - Circus Maniacs – before combining their skills to put on performances at festivals such as Glastonbury and Latitude, on cruise ships, at ski resorts and a range of corporate events.
Following their dreams, they now want to develop Bella Kinetica into a show which will be performed in Bristol and London in September, as well as toured around the country throughout 2013.
To do this, they need to raise £5000 by 8th September and are utilising the website indiegogo – the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects to encourage “crowd funding”.
Jessie explains, “www.indiegogo.com enables us to share information about Bella Kinetica and ask for donations to help us develop it. Crowd funding is where individuals can make a difference, but as a crowd much more can be achieved. We want to get the biggest crowd behind us that we can, helping us to reach our target of £5000. People can make donations from £1 upwards and we will be offering rewards to people for doing so.”
Jessie continued, “I am proud to be a Londoner where people rally round to help each other and are proud of each other’s achievements. I hope that everyone in the city will be proud of me and help me to take my skills out to the rest of the country. Crowd funding is perfect for London where everyone really gets behind you.”
Jessie and Lisa hope that everyone in the capital will help them to achieve their goal by searching for Bella Kinetica on line at www.indiegogo.com/
Combined with their networks built through the performance scene and social media tools, they hope that by the deadline of 8th September (when their crowd funding campaign closes on indiegogo) that they will have the funding that they need.
