PRLog - Aug. 7, 2012 - PENZANCE, U.K. -- The Boutique Hotel, The Cove Cornwall, launches a unique learning experience this October, in collaboration with Cornwall College and Plymouth University.
Offering the first year of a University Degree in just 6 months, without stepping into a classroom, The Cove Hotel School offers A- Level Leavers the chance to get 120 Higher Education Credits and a Higher Diploma from The Institute of Hospitality in just 6 months, whilst managing a “live” boutique hotel.
Students will live and work in the hotel gaining experience in every aspect of running it from marketing, food preparation, front of house systems and more, all part of an FDA in Hospitality Management offered by Plymouth University.
After 6 months, students can then either decide to go onto the second year of university or onto a career in Hotel Management, as the hotel will set up an internship with other Boutique Hotel partner hotels for a further 6 months, allowing students to return to complete the FDa the following October.
This is a fast track vocational education, much needed by the hospitality industry. Lee Magner the principle behind the scheme says…
“This is based on the old Swiss Hotel School principle where “learning is by doing”. More students leaving after A-Levels are shunning the conventional university route and are looking for an investment that is going to net them a job. The industry has a huge demand for home grown talent and we are hoping that students from The Cove Hotel School will go on to become leaders in the hospitality industry.”
The School’s Open Day is set for 24th August and there are five Scholarships up for grabs, paying 50% of the course fees.
