Maheshwar Reddy, Amir Anwar & Teja Pawan Kumar are the three ‘Airtel Rising Stars’ of Hyderabad

Aug. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Hyderabad, August 5, 2012: Maheshwar Reddy from Andhra Pradesh Sports School, Teja Pawan Kumar from Andhra Pradesh Sports School and Aamir Anwar from Nasar Boys School were adjudged as the three ‘Airtel Rising Stars’ at the Hyderabad talent hunt that concluded at the city’s Gymkhana Grounds. Also Naveen Kumar of Andhra Pradesh Sports School was selected for the Goal Keeper position. The players were selected on criteria based on the aspects mentioned in the Manchester United Scouting Guidelines.
Mr. Sharlin Thayil, CEO of Bharti Airtel, Andhra Pradesh circle speaking on the occasion thanked the Media for giving excellent support which is critical for public awareness. “The aim of the event is to nurture young talent which will represent India on the world stage. Airtel has been conducting the event in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and the final teams will be trained by the Manchester United Club coaches” said Mr.  Sharlin. He also encouraged the kids who are not selected and advised them not to get disheartened and continue in the spirit of sport with  confidence as the event will come back next year.
The experienced and watchful eyes of the coaches judged the players on their performance, taking into consideration their physical and mental strengths, expertise in position, and technical acumen. Based on their expertise in the city camp, Maheshwar Reddy from Andhra Pradesh Sports School, Teja Pawan Kumar from Andhra Pradesh Sports School and Aamir Anwar from Nasar Boys School were selected. The three footballers from Hyderabad will join players from 16 other centres to participate in the six-day final selection trial, scheduled to take place in Bangalore this September.
The 129 footballers who were shortlisted on Day 1 & Day 2 but failed to make it to the camp will get another opportunity to make their ‘Airtel Rising Stars’ dream come true next season. They will also receive Manchester United certificates, signed by none other than Sir Alex Fergusson.
Launched in association with Manchester United (one of the best soccer clubs in the world), ‘Airtel Rising Stars’ is a rigorous scouting program that will cover 16 cities across India and choose 12 talented footballers who will get the chance-of-a-lifetime to attend a week long training camp at Manchester United Soccer Schools.
These best players from Hyderabad will join 45 other players, who will be divided into four teams of 12 each and will be tested on all parameters (including physical attributes, individual skills, match situations and their performances in actual matches) before 12 of the best players are chosen to travel to Manchester United for a week and to train alongside the Manchester United Academy team.
