The Awards recognise the astonishing degree to which Christina has gone to, in reducing the carbon footprint of her business, namely:
• Zonal heating (only rooms that guests are staying in are heated)
• Black poplar tables in the dining room
• Crockery from Denby – made from clay dug out of their own back garden
• Bowls for fruit made from recycled glass
• Table mats made from recycled coke cans
• Chairs are either recycled wood or bamboo
• Eco friendly paint
• Breakfast made with New forest Marque or from as close as possible to the New Forest
• Coffee and tea processed using the sun and electricity from solar panels
• Hampshire peppermint tea
• Bar supplied from the local area
• Guests encouraged to leave the car behind with free collection from the station
• Bamboo blankets on the beds (lower carbon footprint than wool or synthetic)

In addition there are two eco ‘showcase rooms’ one of which even has a bicycle to power the television, and another in which the bed and all the bedroom furniture, was made by hand from a fallen New Forest Ash tree.
