Aug. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- Athletes know it; the power behind their performance is mostly mental. They go to great lengths to not only prepare the body, but the mind.
Once such manner of harnessing the power of the mind, is through the use of hypnosis and hypnotherapy.
One doesn't have to be an Olympic contender to create enhanced athletic appeal. In fact, commonly, high school and travel-team athletic coaches enlist the aid of a hypnotherapist who understands sport therapy.

In fact, Dan Vitchoff, a Pittsburgh hypnotist, has been singled out as a source for success for the USA Shooters. In fact, There was Beijing, it is said that in 2008,  Vitchoff's mental training methods were used by Team USA shooters Glenn Eller and Vincent Hancock, clients of his, who went on to win gold medals.

In addition to many well-known athletes such as Tiger Woods, athletes in the Olympics, who do not have an entire season to showcase their abilities but sometimes just days or moments, refer to hypnotists, or with hypnotherapists who work with not only sport performance but removing any emotional or mental blocks that may stand in the way of success, including unproductive habits, relationship issues and even issues from childhood.
From the famous likes of Mary Lou Retton in the 80's for her gymnastic success, and Michael Jordan, to Lee Evens (former 400-meter champion) to Adam Malysz (former ski jump winner), with some countries taking striving to perfection even more seriously, with the Russian Olympic team, as early as 1956, taking 11 hypnotherapists to the Olympics to work with the athletes on sports enhancement.

Athletes use science, nutrition and practice, as well as hypnotherapy to create success.
Some ways hypnotherapy can help an athlete or team:
~Focus
~Visualizing Success
~Minimize Distractions
~Positive Habit Compliance
~Team Interpersonal Skills
~Confidence
~Pain Management
~Personal Success and Inner Calm
~Decrease Performance Anxiety
~Banish self doubt in times of stress
~Heighten Endurance
~Overcome mental blocks , barriers and phobias
~More, including calm in speaking to press.

So, if it is your golf swing or tennis swing, running or kayaking, cheering or soccer or simply getting motivated to get to the gym and make the best of it, start where serious athletes do; in your mind.
