Ford Introduces Auto-StartStop System in US | Cherokee Ford Lincoln Alpharetta, GA

Aug. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- ALPHARETTA, GEORGIA—Ford is introducing its Auto-StartStop system to the United States, offering this technology only on the 2013 Ford Fusion powered by a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder EcoBoost engine.

This is the first time Ford has offered this Auto-StartStop technology in the U.S. on a nonhybrid vehicle. It already uses it on its hybrid vehicles.

The Auto-StartStop system saves fuel by shutting off the engine of a car when it comes to a stop in traffic or at a red light. According to Ford’s estimates, the Auto-StartStop system will save customers roughly $1,100 in gasoline costs over five years of driving.

Ford anticipates that between 10 and 20 percent of customers buying the 2013 Ford Fusion will choose the model with this option.
