The Early Learning Readiness (ELR) program will provide a stimulating environment to help children develop the physical, verbal, and social skills which they'll need to be school-ready. Caregivers will learn how children develop and how to encourage skill building at home.
The curriculum addresses the holistic development of young children by supporting brain development, early literacy, healthy habits development, and strong parents skills. The ELR program will help lay the foundation for future and ongoing achievement and success.
Children ages infant to 4 years old and their adult caregivers can participate in the program. Caregivers can be anybody: parent, aunt or uncle, older brother or sister, grandparent, or even neighbor.
Classes will take place at Dobie Pre-K Center (1200 E. Rundberg Lane; Austin, TX 78753). The YMCA of Austin will be offering classes in English on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 8 to 10 am; and classes in Spanish on Tuesdays and Thursdays, also from 8 to 10am. Fall classes start on August 20 (for English) and August 21 (for Spanish).
Registration can be done over the phone (512) 236-9622 or in person, at the YMCA Program Services Branch (2121 E 6th St Suite 203 Austin, TX 7870). Families can register through the first 4 week of the program as long as space is available.
