Follow on Google News | Adam Morgan Foundation Donates IPAD to Head Injury Center's Autism ProjectThe Center for Head Injury Services, a St. Louis based nonprofit that has helped people with head injuries, autism and other developmental disorders for more than 25 years, recently received an IPAD from the Adam Morgan Foundation.
""Much can be done to improve the lives of adolescents with autism"" says Adam Morgan Foundation President Rachel Morgan. ""iPads can help individuals with autism develop independence, social skills, job training, academics and much more." The mission of the Adam Morgan Foundation is to provide resources, equipment and interventions to families raising children with Autism Spectrum Disorders at the age of three and older at little to no cost to the families. With one in 88 children now diagnosed with autism, the need for services among adolescents and young adults with autism is great. The Center for Head Injury Services' Midwest Adult Autism Project (MAAP) began in 2010 as the only day treatment program in the St. Louis area with embedded therapies. "Adolescents with autism transitioning from school need continuing support," says Center for Head Injury Services' Executive Director Donna Gunning. The Center helps these young people transition into adulthood, and moves them toward greater independence while building self-control and esteem. The Center has been a regional leader in treating brain injuries and other neurological conditions for more than 25 years. For more information about the Center visit www.headinjuryctr- End
