City Kids Festival to Distribute Backpacks Full of Supplies

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 1, 2012 - The annual City Kids Festival, Saturday, August 18th at Juilliard Park, promises to be even bigger and better than last year! Almost 2,000 boys and girls are expected to come and join in with a day of fun games, inspiration, and in celebration of the new school year.

Once again there will be free activities such as a hotdog lunch and a huge book giveaway; plus every pre-registered child will receive a backpack stuffed full with everything they need for school. You and your church can participate in hosting this day of joyous celebration!

Individuals can go to www.srmission.org/ck2012.html to view volunteer opportunities. Churches and other groups who are interested in hosting an activity or food booth need to call or email (alowe@srmission.org) Alice, 707-578-1830 x14.

Do you want to do something before then? You can collect items to fill a backpack. The link on the home page of www.srmission.org will take you to the City Kids Festival page. Look for further instructions in the left column.

If you know of someone with children in the Santa Rosa school system who needs help with school supplies, send them to the Redwood Gospel Mission website (either of the links shown above). There they will find a page that gives full instructions, in both English and Spanish, on how to pre-register your child for a backpack. Or have them call the office, 707-578-1830.

Registration begins July 16th and only the backpacks require pre-registration.
