Follow on Google News | POP - Pinball Outreach Project exhibited their remote flipper box at California ExtremeSan Francisco Bay Area based non-profit, POP - Pinball Outreach Project, exhibited their remote flipper box this past weekend at California Extreme in Santa Clara, Ca.
POP’s mission is to improve the lives of hospitalized children during the downtime of treatment by bringing the game, history and excitement of pinball to Children's Hospitals. POP will travel around to different hospitals bringing the pinball machines directly to the patients. Volunteers will teach patients about the history and game by providing a variety of machines from different eras. POP raised money for start up costs showing children and adults the remote flipper box capabilities. The remote flipper box can be hooked up to pinball machines allowing individuals with physical limitations or disabilities to flip from in front of the machine. For example, someone confined to a wheelchair can place the lightweight box on their lap and have the same control of the flippers as someone standing at the machine. The project also plans on hooking up a camera and monitor rig, similar to those used in pinball competitions, which would allow a patient to play using the box from their hospital bed. We want POP to come to a hospital near you! If you are interested in getting involved, volunteering, or making a donation please contact Nicole@pinballoutreach.org. You can follow POP on Twitter @pinballoutreach, on Facebook facebook.com/ End
