Bill Luchini Receives Governors Award For Excellence In Affordable Housing

Aug. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Bill Luchini, president of Capstone Development Group in Clayton, has been honored with the distinguished Illinois Governor’s Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing.  The award was presented at the Illinois Governor’s Conference on Affordable Housing at Chicago’s Navy Pier, which attracted more than 500 housing industry leaders.
   The award honors outstanding builders and developers for their exceptional dedication to ensuring that working families, senior adults and those with disabilities have access to safe and affordable housing.
   Luchini was selected for his innovative and efficient use of resources in a rural area for Lexington Farms, an affordable “all-green” housing community in Jerseyville, IL.  The 32-home neighborhood has received the prestigious LEED Platinum certification, making it the first affordable development to receive this distinction.  In addition, Lexington Farms has gained nationwide attention as the largest-scale “net-zero” energy subdivision in the country.  At Lexington Farms, rooftop solar panels and wind turbines mounted over the garages provide exceptionally low-cost electric power.
