New initiative means Kids Go Free at the races this summer

To help parents this summer, Britain's racecourses are letting children in free during the school holidays.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 1, 2012 - The majority of the country's schools closed this month and won't reopen until early September, leaving parents in a quandary over how to keep their little ones entertained for six weeks. Thankfully, almost 50 participating racecourses will be offering children complimentary admission to more than 200 fixtures.

Adult admission starts from as little as £4, which makes a visit to a racecourse during the summer an exciting and affordable family day out.

"While children look forward to the long break from school during the summer, parents are often concerned about finding activities and family days out," a spokesperson from LovetheRaces.com, part of the Racing for Change organisation. "Because the Kids Go Free initiative is being supported by so many racecourses, parents can choose a fixture that's taking place near where they live, making it a convenient, cost-effective solution to their dilemma."

Racing for Change and LovetheRaces.com helps to promote horseracing in Britain and say the Kids Go Free initiative could be a great way of attracting new people to get involved in the sport of kings.

"Horseracing is one of the world's oldest sports and has a phenomenal history," LovetheRaces.com's spokesperson said. "However, the future of the horseracing is reliant on new generations getting involved and developing a passion for the sport. Kids Go Free will see thousands of children all over the country attending their first ever fixture and experiencing the sport first-hand. It may even be the first time their parents have been to a fixture, so this is a great opportunity for people to discover the great days out horseracing can provide."

The offer is available to accompanied children under the age of 16, or in many cases, under 18. Across the 200-plus fixtures, young children will get to enjoy a mixture of face painting, fun fairs, special appearances by their favourite TV characters, magic shows, and much more. Meanwhile, older children will get to enjoy live music at some fixtures as well as enjoy the thrilling racing action. Another activity that can help make for a fun family day out is the opportunity to enjoy a picnic.

The next Kids Go Free events will be taking place at York (27 and 28 July), Newmarket (28 July), Pontefract (29 July) and Chester (5 August).
